Native Language: French
Working Languages: Spanish and English into French
Other Languages: Russian, Italian
Specialist Fields: commercial communication, economics, marketing, finance, law, sociology
Language Experience: Jean-Luc Michelin lived
for four years in Bogota, Colombia, where he worked as a French<>Spanish
translator and interpreter recognized by the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs. He has worked as a conference interpreter and translator
of technical and official documents for government institutions
such as the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International
Trade, the French Embassy, and the Andean Parliament, and for
multinational companies such as CGEA Vivendi.
He lived in Spain for over three years and has traveled widely
in both Central and South America, giving him a finely tuned sensitivity
to the terminological specifics of Iberian and Latin American
Spanish. He is also fluent in English, which has been his day-to-day
communications tool on many occasions throughout his professional
and personal career. But he is first and foremost a specialist
in French, and is specifically interested in studying the terminological
differences between French as it is spoken in Quebec and in France.
Other Experience: Jean-Luc Michelin studied at
the École Supérieure de Commerce (Advanced Business
School) in Rouen (France). He worked for more than ten years in
marketing and communication (direct marketing, market surveys
and communication strategies), mainly in France but also in Spain
and Italy. Today this experience gives him a considerable edge
in two areas: the first in marketing, where he has a concrete
vision of a service that really caters to the market and listens
to customers' needs; and the second, his specialist language fields.
